Rounding out the UK contingent, and probably the 'Brit' aspect of this little exploration, we have the Arctic Monkeys.
A colleague of mine once found it quite strange when they found out I was a fan. Admittedly, we hadn't previously discussed more than my Metal affliction, so that is somewhat to be expected. A portion of the Arctic Monkey's more energetic riffs could easily be mistaken for Thrash Metal just played on an AC30 top boost channel rather than on a Mesa / Engl / Diezel / 5150 metal monster!
Either way, a number of Arctic Monkeys albums do grace my collection, so it was high time they got a mention.
