I've been a bit tardy of late, a bit distracted. Mad March was my holiday from the daily posts, and time to do some different things.
During this period, I picked up 'the axe' again and started playing with my home studio Christmas presents. Thanks to the advice of Mr Fricker over at Spectre Sound Studios, I decided to try out some of the plugin's offered by Bogren Digital designed for the beginning home recordist - one knob wonders! They were addictive. An instantly mix ready output that let you focus on getting the basics right - double tracking, panning, creating a 'wall of sound' that makes shit sound good!
However, I probably should have factored in that although it is still relatively silent compared to mic'ing up a tube amp and cab, playing direct into the DAW isn't '100% silent' for everyone else around you! Apparently, there is only so many times one can hear me bang away at a specific riff, double or triple tracking it across multiple takes before they want to pick up the nearest 'blunt instrument' and start banging away at my head! Anyhoo...
It is therefore time to reset, restart and return to the daily dose of musical mayhem... and today I thought I would start a short focus on 'new stuff' that's turned up in the collection...
Channelling their inner punks ... and arguably in stark contrast to some of the other songs on the album, this was a standout for me on 'Dreams on Toast'
