Splitsville

Maybe it's me. Maybe it's just a mirror held up on the reality of society. I'm detecting that in a lot of the recent offerings from bands in my collection there is a theme of cathartic, apologetic, reflective outcomes regarding personal relationships.

For today's post I had 'spun' Taproot up on the list or remaining bands. Rather than heading back to their early 00's nu-metal heyday for the song selection, I thought, let's catch up on what I might have missed from the more recent catalog.

Immediately I'm getting similar vibes the 2025 release from Finger Eleven, which I featured the early single way back at the start of this journey. That album was part confession, part rationalisation, part apology, part grief, part moving on.

I am yet to do a full listen through of this album - that's on the cards for the rest of the day. But if this opening track is anything to go by, there is bound to be a little bit of everything in the rest of the album.
