Many years ago, for either a Birthday, Anniversary, Christmas gift, or as a last-ditch effort to improve his pitch during the regular attention seeking spontaneous outbreaks into song he was known for, Dazza received the gift of vocal lessons** from his then significant other.
I remember this from a discussion most likely at one of our Thursday extended lunches (strategy meetings) where the advice from his voice coach was being recounted, and that it involved him finding practice material from artists that better matched the key and vocal range his current capabilities would allow (which ruled out most of the bands we loved and listened to at the time).
'The National' were one such suggested band, which is how this album came to find its way into my collection also. Not a frequent playback leader, listening back to this album recently for this effort highlighted today's selection as a standout, and retrospectively, somewhat serendipitous of how life events played out...
** memory is dusty on the exact origin of the singing lessons
